If I asked you to name your strengths right this minute, could you do it?
Actually, let’s turn this into a little mini coaching lesson. Hit reply, take no longer than 60 seconds to think about it, and send me your strengths. Then come back and finish reading this post.
How did that feel?
If you’re anything like, I don’t know, 90% of people out there, it was surprisingly challenging, especially to do it in only one minute. Maybe it felt a little awkward. Maybe it was easy to rattle off your standard answers. Maybe other thoughts or feelings came up, like embarrassment to brag on yourself and your strengths.
Maybe, it just got you thinking. And I invite you to continue that line of thought, because identifying your strengths can be the thing that creates all kinds of ease and fulfillment in your life. Seriously.
The secret, though, is really understanding your innate strengths and leaning into those, not just focusing on naming or cultivating learned strengths we think we should have.
There’s a difference, and it’s big and powerful.
When we can do the work to recognize and embody what is, what exists in us already, and build on that – instead of focusing so much on what’s wrong, what’s not enough, what we’re told are weaknesses – WOW. Everything amplifies.
I’ve got another next-level secret tip to living from your natural strengths, but I’m going to be a terrible tease and make you work for it. It’s super worth it.
I recently chatted all about this with Sonya Stattmann, Intrinsic Leadership Coach and Founder of the Worthy Women Collective, on her podcast, The Feminine Lens. It was such an incredible, deep-dive conversation, super packed with insightful, different, and useful info. This was not your typical talk about finding your strengths based on some personality test or career quiz.
It’s so. much. better.
So take 30 minutes to continue your mini-lesson on rediscovering your innate strengths and find out about:
- Why we don’t need to constantly “improve” ourselves
- Building a business around our innate skills
- Why our greatest strengths can’t often be measured
- How to get in touch with your innate strengths
- The problem with constantly raising the bar for performance and what to do instead
- Why I don’t market with numbers
- And that next-level secret to living in your natural strengths and what a transformational difference in can make in everything you do and how you feel
