When I think about what inspired and motivated me to create the Crisis Averted workbook, it’s funny, because really, it felt like a crisis. It was definitely a life predicament.
I’m a coach. I like to coach people. Real people, through their real-life stuff. My favorite, and most effective and beneficial, way to do that is one-on-one. But, that’s not for everyone, which I completely understand. Still, I was craving more ways to do that, and at the same time, I didn’t want to just throw some stuff into an online platform because that’s a popular thing to do right now.
Hence, the predicament: How do I help people with their real-life stuff, give them an experience that’s positive and useful, without the commitment and intimidation factor of a coaching relationship – and the investment that goes along with it?
I brainstormed a lot of stuff. I looked at what some other people were doing, how, for how much. I came up with a lot of ideas, but ultimately? Still felt super fucking frazzled, paralyzed about what to do, what not to do, and how and when to do it. I needed some further direction, a process.
Full disclosure: I ended up reaching out to my one-on-one coach. Seriously, best thing out there. But, it took only a matter of minutes to distill the dilemma down to its core, and then build an action plan around it. With that experience, I knew that that was exactly what I wanted to create – something that would facilitate that process, but without me having to be there.
With my personal crisis averted, Crisis Averted was born.
I reached out to a few colleagues, as well as several strangers on the internet to check it out, see if I was totally off base, or if this kind of process was indeed helpful. Oh, hey, look! It is!
“I love this — a LOT. This is amazing resource for people to really think through (and beyond the surface consequences) of these really pivotal times in their lives.” J.O.
“I know it can feel scary, or exhausting, or even plain frivolous to spend the time and money truly examining your life in order to crawl out of the same old and make it into something you can Love. But I also know that there’s no greater gift to you or your people that you do it anyway. Kourtney offers a step-by-step, can’t-mess-this-up guide to walk you through this otherwise harrowing process of self-reflection, and aren’t we all just the luckiest that she’s here?” A.N.
“Kourtney has the rare ability to welcome everything that comes her way and find connections with ideas, feelings, and people in thought provoking, healing, and amazing ways. I continued to be honored and awe-struck by her abundant skills to support, help, and guide others, as well as practicing what she preaches in her own life. As a dance/movement therapist and mental health counselor, I have utilized concepts that I have learned from her work with my own clients, finding that she has a way to resonate with compassion and empowerment. I am so excited to continue my path on the Choice Discovery Movement. At times I might feel fearful of what comes my way, and yet I am so excited for the courage and confidence that I am finding having such a brilliant mind walking with me. If you have the chance to work with and learn from Kourtney, I can’t recommend it enough.” A.E.A.
I feel good that this is a valuable processing tool for you. And, with skin in the game (i.e. a little money invested), you’re going to be more committed to said process. Seeing as something similar helped me through something as seemingly simple, and definitely a shared struggle, like a business decision, I know this can help you with anything seemingly simple, or even something far more vexing. Think:
- Should I go back to school?
- Should I put my resume out there?
- Is this job really what I want to be doing?
- Why do I feel so generally miserable?
- I’m not sure if this routine is the right one for me.
- Is it time to pick up and move across the country?
- #RelationshipIssues
- Is it time to finally put myself first?
- I’m so stuck, I’m not sure I can even name the problem.
- What’s my purpose in life? (OK, maybe you’re not going to be able to figure this out with a workbook, but you’ll probably find some level of clarity.)
I mean…
“WOWOWOWOW. This is sooooo good. I love the actual PDF. It’s so super detailed and the questions and process you take people through is amazing. Like, how can you NOT figure this shit out with this handbook?!? So great.” A.T.
Pretty much any question you might have about the workbook itself, delivery, what’s included, what’s not, etc., you can find on this page. But as always, you can email me directly if you have questions or reservations. I’m happy to chat through it.
If you’re ready, grab your workbook here. And if you’re interested in one-on-one coaching to go with it? Let’s chat about that too. I want to help, and there’s always a way to figure out how to do that together.
Here’s to your process.
